Family Law

Divorce and Separation

Sometimes marriage isn't forever.  Whether it's deciding to have a temporary separation to think things through or the decision to part ways, The Hawes Law Firm can assist you in determining the next best step for the best possible outcome.

Children are a blessing but custody is always a hot topic when parents decide to separate. Navigating through the waters of child custody can be tricky.  Whether it's determining physical or legal custody, our attorneys are here to help you understand what is at risk and focus on what is in the best interest of the child.

Support and Modifications

The State of Georgia uses a formula to determine how child support is calculated to ensure both parents are responsible for supporting their children. While the calculator is automated, only an attorney experienced in using the calculator can ensure that the appropriate amount of support is given to the children.

In Georgia, if a child is born out of wedlock, the father has no legal rights until he requests a legitimation action. This allows the father to obtain rights regarding his child.  A mother can file an action to establish paternity and request child support.

Regardless of your situation, we at The Hawes Law Firm can help you make the best decision for the future of your family.
